Statement on the Fifth Anniversary of the Murders of Xulhaz and Tonoy

Today marks five years since the precious lives of Xulhaz and Tonoy were brutally taken from this world. Although they may not be physically here with us, their spirit and love continue to in our lives. We must continue to fight for the change they were passionate about bringing through their persistent activism and work. We will not stop, and we are encouraged by the efforts of others who are fighting for human rights in Bangladesh and around the world. We reiterate our statement from one year ago. We hope justice will be served one day, but more importantly, we must focus on the injustices that take place every day in the lives of so many members of the LGBTQI+ community. Let us all come together in the name of love and work until we can ensure our right to love and live our authentic lives. As Xulhaz always liked to say, “My love does not hurt you, but your hate devastates me.” Rest In Power
